1)    WHAT IS ERASMUS+ PROGRAM?

Erasmus Programme is the Higher Education section of the European Community action program called “Erasmus+”. Erasmus is an EU funded program which contains a wide range of measures designed to support the European activities of higher education institutions, including mobility and exchange of their students and teaching staff. The program is open to the 28 Member States of the European Union, the EFTA and EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway) and the candidate countries Turkey and Macedonia.

Erasmus Programme is the EU’s flagship education and training program, enabling two hundred thousand students to study and work abroad each year, as well as supporting co-operation actions between higher education institutions across Europe. It caters not only for students but also for professors and business staff who want to teach abroad and for university staff who want to be trained abroad.

2)     WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN ERASMUS+ PROGRAM?

Erasmus+ (2014 - 2020) is open for studying and traineeships abroad for students enrolled in higher education institutions in Program countries at Bachelor and Master level as well as for doctoral candidates. These opportunities are also open to recent graduates and as well as to teachers, researchers and university staff (academic and/or administrative).

3)     HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN ERASMUS+ PROGRAM?

Students in higher education can receive the grant for undergraduate studies, Masters studies and doctoral studies. We will announce which term Erasmus+ English Language Exam will be. You need to have 2.20 CGPA to apply and take 60 scores and over. Nominations are conducted by our Office,  An eligibility check is done before nominating a student. 4)    WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ERASMUS+ STUDYING & TRAINING PROGRAM?

Studying type of mobility enables students at higher education institutions to spend an integrated period of study of between 3 months and 12 months in another country participating in the program. They must have completed at least one semester of their academic program at the time of application.

Training is the type of mobility enables students to have vocational training and get working experience in a company/institution which is located in an EU member country.

5)     WHEN CAN I APPLY FOR ERASMUS+ PROGRAM?

Before the universities deadline, IPO announces when the application starts. You are informed about the criteria, exam date, time & place of e-mail, the posters and posts on the social media. You can’t apply before this announcement.

6)     CAN I GO TO THE COUNTRY WHICH I WANT?

There should be a protocol signed by ABU and the receiving university for exchange. You can go to the university’s country which we made an agreement.

 

7)     HOW DO STUDENTS GET NOMINATED FOR ERASMUS+ PROGRAM?

After you have all criteria to apply for the exam, you should pass the exam with the minimum score is 60. Then we take 50% of your English Language Score and 50% of your CGPA and then they are collected. According to the last score, students are nominated.

 

8)     WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED TO PREPARE AFTER NOMINATION?

We organize an orientation day for the students who are nominated and the students on the waiting list. Students will inform about the process. Attendance is mandatory. The requirements for the application may vary from each institution. Students are responsible for checking the host institution's website for any information that might be useful for the application procedure. Partner institutions sometimes post necessary information on their websites instead of sending e-mails. The host universities are informed about nominated students by ABU Erasmus+ Office.

       The necessary documents;

-    Application Form (partner institutions might request during your application is a copy of your passport),

-    Learning Agreement or Training Agreement,

-    Consulate Letter ( will be written to consulate by ABU- IPO),

-    Health & Travel Insurance,

-    Recognition Form (will be signed by host university and ABU)

-    Grant Agreement

-    Passport Pages Copy with the visa. 

9)    HOW WILL I PREPARE THE LEARNING AGREEMENT & TRAINING AGREEMENT?

You can prepare your Learning Agreement and Training Agreement with the support of your Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator. Matching the courses need to be done for studying and work plan needs to be complete. There are 3 parts for both documents. Before the Mobility, During the Mobility and After the Mobility.  After you prepared your LA, first you will sign the Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator. You sign it and send it to the host university to be signed.

 

10)    CAN I MAKE CHANGES ON LA & TA?

The lessons and credits you took may change after you go. In this case, you can prepare an LA change page. You can write them on exceptional changes part of LA.

 

11)    WHEN SHOULD I MAKE LA CHANGE PAGE?

If you have a situation that requires you to make changes after you have gone to the host institution, please prepare this document before you come back. Remember that after you return to Turkey, you will not be able to make any changes to your LA, so you must have made your current changes before you came in, your changes need to approved by your department and Board on these changes.

12)    CAN I COMMUNICATE WITH THE HOST INSTITUTIONS?

Unless it is obligatory please don’t contact the host university. Check the website and you need to be sure the information you search for and if the answer to your question is on the page. If you still want to communicate, first contact the Institutional Coordinator and Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator and try to write them in a polite way.

13)    DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE MY CREDITS TO 30 ECTS?

You have to be the student of the university to benefit from Erasmus+ Exchange Program. In this case, you will have to take 30 ECTS course, even if you will exceed the number of credits required for graduation. The course credits you receive will be on your transcript at the end of the mobility.

 

14)    HOW Many grants WILL I GET?

It depends on the country economic situation. The grants are written below for studying and training:

15)    HOW WILL YOU PAY THE GRANT?

You will receive 80% of it before you start your exchange program. You will receive the final 20% of the grant after your return to ABU if you bring the all necessary documents you take from the host university or the companies.

 

16)     HOW MANY MONTHS WILL I GET A GRANT?

We pay according to your invitation letter comes from the host university. If it takes two semesters to stay we just cover for one semester of studying period. Also, we just cover two months for training.

 

17)    HOW CAN STUDENTS FIND TRAINEESHIP COMPANY OR INSTITUTIONS?

Before the start, you check your CV, you need to prepare a strong motivation letter. You can explain why you want to do your traineeship and you need to make them believe, this trainee process will be a good experience for you and for a receiving organisations,you can advise with your academic advisor and Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinator,you can check the websites that can help to find traineeship place, you can contact the companies on our website,You can click on the links that we put on our website (IPO)You can talk the students who benefit from Trainee Exchange from your department.

 

18)    WHERE WILL STUDENTS STAY?

The host university can help about accommodation in their dormitory but it is your own responsibility.

 

19)    HOW LONG CAN I PARTICIPATE IN ERASMUS+ PROGRAM

Your studying abroad can last from a minimum of 3 months and traineeship abroad can last from a minimum of 2 months to a maximum of 12 months. You need to complete 3 months( 90 days) for studying and 2 months(60 days), if you come back earlier, your studying and traineeship will not be accepted and the grant will be taken back. Also, you can benefit from Erasmus+ multiple times, either as a student or as a trainee, but your total time abroad (study abroad periods included) may not exceed 12 months within one cycle of study.

20)     DO I NEED TO ENROLL TO MY OWN UNIVERSITY?

Yes, you will enroll to home University ( International Antalya University) to be a student of ABU. You can’t participate in Erasmus+ Program if you are not a student at ABU.

 

21)     I HAVE A GREEN PASSPORT, DO I NEED TO TAKE A VISA?

Erasmus+ Study Mobility takes 3 months at least. In this case, you can live in trouble when your green passport is full of 90 days. We advise you to take the visa before you go.

 

22)     WILL I GET A PAPER FOR MY VISA FACILITATION PROCESS?

When you complete all necessary documents, visa letter will be done by IPO. Information about you, the country, dates and the grant that you will take will be written on this.

 

23)     IS IT POSSIBLE TO COVER COST OF TRIP & ACCOMMODATION?

No, your grant doesn’t include your travel expenses and accommodation. It will be paid to support your all expenses monthly. But there is a protocol signed between Turkish National Agency and Turkish Airlines. Students will be able to have 20% discount on the tickets. They will able to take extra more 10 luggage.

 

24)    IF I WILL GIVE UP MY ERASMUS+ EXCHANGE RIGHT, WILL YOU CUT 10 POINTS?

After the announcements of nominated students, we will give time to give their rights up to students. If you will give up after the deadline, 10 points will be cut from your next total score for Erasmus+ Program.

 

25)     HOW ACADEMIC & ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF PARTICIPATE IN ERASMUS+ PROGRAM?

There are two different types of Erasmus+ Program for academic and administrative staff. First one is Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Training. The university staff is trained in a higher education institution or an enterprise which is in one of the program countries and has a bilateral agreement. The other one is Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching. It is the type of activity which is the teaching program at a higher education institution that is located in one of the program countries and has a bilateral agreement.The country must be a member of EU, candidate country or one of the program's countries which teaching mobility carried out.

 

26)     HOW MANY GRANTS CAN ACADEMIC & ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF GET?

Grant is paid for the days of the training and the days when the trip happens and for travel expenses.The amount of daily grant that will be provided to the staff who will benefit from the training mobility will be determined by the National Agency, according to living standards of the countries.

27)    HOW DO YOU CALCULATE THE GRANT FOR TRAVEL EXPENSES?

Payment for travel is the contribution for participant’s travel expenses which is spending money to go from the place of residence to the place for mobility. Travel distance must be calculated by the European Commission distance calculator.

28)    WILL ACADEMIC & ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF GET THE SALARY WHEN THEY PARTICIPATE IN ERASMUS+ PROGRAM?

You need to get the necessary permits and procedures from your academic unit before you go.
